For the record, I'm not offended by any profanity, but there may be forum users that are, or more importantly, there may be forum users with a kid looking over their shoulder.

Bwana,

In all due respect, this is rather laughable. Unless, of course, you are referring to kids around 7, because after this age, I promise you they will teach YOU dirty words and phrases that you have never heard.

Besides, if given the choice whether or not to allow "little Johnnie" to see the dreaded "F" word on a forum, or a hailed murdering president on television who has been proven to have taken America to war under false pretenses, killing thousands of innocents along the way, and STILL operating with impunity, I think I gotta go with the cuss word.

Besides, as George Carlin (just one of Mongo's heroes) famously said: "F" the kids! They're nothing more than future adults anyway...

Yes Mongo, I recall as a yoof thinking that swear words were used only by kids in the absence of adults and being shocked the first time I heard an adult swear in the presence of children (i.e. myself).

BUT, a kid is a kid, and I'll try to respect the wishes of their parents and curb my obscenities to that end. I am sure that no parent can completely shield their child from obscenities and violence. But I think the wishes of the forum administrator is to keep this forum above board. I could parallel this behavior to the use of straight pipes if you wish.

I can go to other boards to let off steam, verbally joust in the fine art of four letter verbage, and make a buffoon of myself in general. If I wish to continue in this community I should be willing to abide by the rules or accepting of the possibility of getting banned. IMHO, there is access to knowledge on this board that I'm willing to alter my behavior a wee bit to keep access too. I just hope the swear filters can be tweaked enough to quit removing stuff that is nowhere near obscene.

I'm no fan of W's either and as far as I am concerned view him differently from verbal obscenities as well. But we're not talking about having a forum devoted to political philosophies (I will entertain a discussion now and again, but I'd also like a little respite from them as well).
