If one has a motorcycle, one is already blessed. Does anyone see a sort of cross current or juxtaposition in the idea of a bike blessing? The theological overtones escape me.  A biker budd gifted me a bell. I installed it more for my budd then for me. Its hard to tell if its working.

Welcome to the forum Kim. We do not allow commercial posting in this forum. However since this was an event ride I am allowing it to stand but I did edit it to remove the links and advertising for all your sponsors. If people want to know that information they can go to your web site.

Fran, I do find it interesting that one sect of Christianity has taken up the cause of the Biker. I am looking for a Buddhist meditation session to make me a better/safer rider. Thinking clearly in pucker situations is the key in my book. But I bet you have not had an accident since you had the bell and if you have it would have been worse without it.

Its a very large and very loud bell. Heavy, too, and slows my bike considerably. Its hard to tell if it is working, safetywise. I have no doubt that when I get it to ring then I get very hungry. Its almost Pavlovian.

If you like meditation, you can try one of my favorite biker koans. "When it is no longer necessary to do anything, it is necessary to do absolutely nothing."  I find this most comforting during any of those long, lurid slides in the rain amidst heavy traffic after dark. (OMC)

Seems to me it would be more productive to bless the riders than the bikes.

I have never tried to get any information about them, but I have seen quite a few "Bikers for Christ" wandering about. At least that's what it said on their jackets.  Wonder if Christ would have liked loud exhaust pipes?

Predictions are very difficult, especially about the future.

Christ would probably LOVE loud pipes. Not straight (dumpers) pipes, mind you....but aftermarket pipes that are a bit louder than stock...and give the attitude that "I'm HERE"....something that Christ also wants you to know.

I find no problem with any bike "blessing". We could use all the help we can get....and thus surely does no harm.
