I had a '01 Sprint ST that I rode for 5 years and loved it. The bike is now gone, time has passed, and I need a replacement.

Is there anything that I should consider that's a bit newer? To be honest I'm not overly taken with the new ST styling.

I saw a good price on a '05 BMW K1200S but most of the info I see on them is pretty dated. How will that bike hold up over time?

I need something I can ride year 'round, has an electric socket, hard bags, and is low maintenance (I'm not a wrench).

The ST was ideal - big enough for hours long rides yet small enough to go grocery shopping with.

Why not get another Sprint? It shouldn't be too hard to find an all-original, gently used 01 - 04.

StoneTriple - that's an interesting idea. I only found one available w/in a reasonable range. They want $5000 for the bike w/o options, but MCN shows the value s/b $3920. Will see if they're willing to negotiate.

Those are some good ideas on the rest. I think the only way to know for sure is to actually try to test ride a bike. The local Triumph place also does Honda so at least I know the service will be convenient.

How do you think these bigger bikes will compare? Will they be too big for casual trips like going to a movie, etc.?

For what it's worth, my two cents.

I drive an 07 ST 1300 to work (around 70 miles round trip) and find the bike to be everything I could want. It has a 300+ mile range, accelerates well and is really comfortable. Not as nimble as a 600 crotch rocket or as cool as a harley, but it starts each time and gobbles up miles real easy. Gets around 45 mpg, so not bad on that score. With the adjustable windshield, you can roll it down and enjoy it as a sportbike when the mood strikes.

Over the years I've driven everything from a GS 850 to a six cylinder KZ 1300. The ST is the best for me.
