I just had the Insta trike 2 (12" wheels) installed on my 2005 Triumph Speedmaster.  The bike is stable and I am getting use to using the steering wheel.  However, I am concerned about the "sway" in the rear.  I think it needs to be adjusted to either put more weight on the 12" wheels OR more weight on the rear bike tire.    I don't know which.  Does anyone have any experience with this?

I have owned a tow pac kit for about one year. I have a 1999 honda goldwing. What I like is that in about 10-15 minutes you can go from kit to regular 2 wheel bike. Three bolts and one pin and the kit slides out. It took me about 100 miles to get used to the difference. On the highway you do not notice any difference in ride until you make turns.

Tow Pac had suggested that I extend the rods 1/4" to put more weight on the 12" tires.  But I decided to play with the tire pressure first.  Their website say 35-60#.  However, I think this was meant for the 8" tires.  My tires said max pressure 90psi.  I took it to 75psi and it corrected the sway.  I emailed the company and asked them to clarify.

Adding the 1/4" also works.  I had the same problem with my Suzuki, all I did was put the back bike tire on a 3/8 board and lowered the kit wheels to the ground so that you couldn't pick them up without a little effort.  It also helped the handling a great deal.  Changing the kits psi works just watch the wear on your tires.

Some things to keep in mind,

The weight of the rider, I'm 220 and the bike does squat when I sit on it, so adjust according too your weight.  I can go farther down than the 1/4". Trial and error until you find what is best.

The tread and the tire pressure on the rear tire of the bike.

These are two things I have learned over time with my Insta Trike that can change the way the bike handles.

I have two bikes with the Insta Trike kit on them, that I installed myself, after some experimenting with ride height I found that it can make a world of difference.  My wife loves the stability and I love the versatility.

It is great that you have a choice.<img src="http://www.mcnews.com/mcn/board/Skins/Motor%20Cycle/Images/EmotIcons/BigGrin.gif" width=20 border=0>

I have the tow pac on my 400 burgman.  I love it.  I don't worry about going through gravel or anything.  I feel so confident on the scooter now.

I have heard several complaints about the voyager....but not sure if any of them or true or not...

Good luck in your decision....don't think you would be sorry.

I bought a instra tike last yr at the wing ding. I have it a little over a yr. I decided last month to get it Painted the same color as my Honda. The guy that pointed it said it had stress cracks where the fender curves to the bracket in the back of the fender. I have about 4ooo miles on it which isn't to much. He fixed the cracks on both fenders, so I'll have to wait to see if it does it again. Did anybody have the same problem? I guess I should call the factory and see if they had other people with the same problems. Other then that, I like them and my wife loves them. The nice thing is when I want to go by myself. I take them off

I bought the Tow-Pac Mini Trike Kit in May of this year for my brand new $4000.00 scooter. I had great expections. Directions were very poor and additional photos were not available. At about 1200 miles a piece of the framework broke. They replaced it with 2 stronger bars. After that it started vibrating at 30 mph. At 1800 miles it ripped out the framework it was attached to underneath the scooter and also destroyed the clutch. causing a terrible squeal in the rear wheel. The clutch is now being replaced but my scooter still needs to be welded. I don't know at this time how badly the framework is damaged. Tow-Pac is taking back there trike kit but I have to pay for return shipping and a 20% restocking fee. I lose about $800.00 on that and have a damaged scooter to deal with that may not be safe to ride. So buyers beware when buying the Mini Trike kit from Tow-Pac.
