looking for recommendations on replacement battery for Ducati M900 ridden in Florida heat. Favorite brand, sealed? Also would appreciate recommendation on trickle charger. Thanks for your input. Greg

I have always thought the sealed battery is the way to go especially in a motorcycle. I have been looking for a conversion for my '85 CB650SC Nighthawk but I haven't seen a replacement. My '03 ZRX1200R came with one I believe it is a YUASA. It is going on 3 years of service and still going strong. That is better than the old style wet cell (at least for me anyway). I have tried to maintain them as best I could....distilled water....low current charging....they still won't last as long as I would like (they go out in 2 years or so).
I use a regulated power supply that I have set the maximum current to .5 amperes. That is what I have been told to charge the battery while it is sitting.

while I don't claim to be fluent in monsters, most ducks I've seen have not exactly had batteries that are easy to access
so a sealed unit would be a must, particularly in your heat. In terms of brands, any of the majors would do, some
swear by the Oddessy but then again, maybe
its just the snappy red case:

I would recommend a AGM (absorbed glass matt)in that they do seem to stand up to vibration better, even in my single. In terms of chargers, the battery plus is the gold standard I think, 'always works for me anyway

As far as a trickle charger for winter storage, I went to Wal Mart and bought the Black and Decker Smart Charger. It is 1 or 2 amp selectable and does float. I think I paid under $18. Got one for mine and my girlfriends' bike for less than one of the dealerships battery tender.

I have had the Battery Tender Junior for 5 years now. I live in Indiana so it is on the bike for about 5 months through the winter. It has not let me down yet. On sale right now at Competition Accessories.
