NJScooterGal (1/12/2008) ... I was putting helmets on and had a huge problem with my glasses..If I put my glasses on after my helmet, I couldn't get the frames to set comfortably behind my ears because of the way the helmet fit snug around my face. We won't even go there about putting the helmet on while wearing glasses...that would go under the DOH catergory in this forum. ... NJScootergal... I have a FF HJC helmet, model LT12, not a flip chinbar, unmodified in any way. It was bought to fit as snug as possible without any sharp pressure points. In its original condition, it fit so tight that I couldnt chew gum without biting the inside of my cheek. It is now old enough and has enough miles that it feels a bit loose at high speeds on my naked bike. I can now chew gum if I am careful and dont get too excited. I favor those great big aviator-style wire rim frames. In order to keep these big lenses on my head in moments of super hero-type action, the temples (ear pieces) have a sort of spring hook that wraps behind my ears. The S.O. hates this near Elton look. But I find that such equipage functions just the way I like it. I am willing to suffer some geek factor for greater functionality. The temple hooks prevent me from sliding my specs through the visor opening after donning the skid lid because I cant get them to go past the ear and lodge in the proper place. Anyway, I have been donning my helmet over my glasses with little fuss beyond learning to do it in the first place. I can remove the helmet over the specs. But I prefer to pull the specs out the visor opening before removing the helmet. Most standard temples are straight enough to push into place through the visor opening after the helmet is on. Some modern styles have nearly straight temples allowing easy fitment after the helmet is on. Then there is the slimming advantage of a non-modular FF helmet. I can only imagine how porcine I might appear if I could ride while eating.
nobody rides half as well as they know how.

| Well Iba... If it is any consolation, I pretty much cornered the market on female geekoid scooter riding. (where is my MIT sweatshirt and periodic table of the elements?). I don't mind the fact that when I bought my scooter it came with my very own copy of "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I am not ashamed to admit that due to my current limitations, I do not feel comfortable having more CC's and a ride that requires shifting. Our older son (who by the way thinks I gave birth to him at Abercrombie and Fitch and his name should be John Ralph Lauren Polo) was the one who said "Mom, with that pink helmet, blackberry, and your fly-like goggles, you pretty much look like Mrs. Poindexter". I just knew I should have purchased those amber tinted sun glasses to go with my Elvis Presley songs! EP Phone Home! NJscootergal...oooppsss, NJscootergeekgal

| Anyone tried the new HJC FS-10 Helmet with "built-in" sunglasses? It looks like they should work much better than using sunglasses.

I keep a very nice set of Ray-Ban sunglasses in my tank bag. For riding I am using a full face helmet with shield. The shield has an anti-fog inner shield that I can swap out for a sun inner-shield. Very nice, and no need to worry about fogging.
Bugs splatting on my face hurt, so now I always use a full-face helmet. I use the sunglasses when I am stopped for a rest, like at an outdoor restaurant.
