dont know if this should be in the forum tech part or not?

but, the PM javascript prompt didnt work for me when i needed it a couple of days ago.  fortunately, no harm/inconvenience was done.  if othersd are having the same problem.  all y'all can add their experience here.

ok.  it sorta worked.   i was expecting some sort of box or window to overlay the page when i visit the site.  something unmistakable and so obvious that even a dolt like me wouldnt miss it.   alas, the only difference was a fraction next to the "messages".  the numerator doesnt change color if you get a new PM.   its these esoteric bits with higher levels of meaning that escape me.   i would insert an emoticon here if i knew which one was appropriate.

Whattayouguys talking about?

  ....

the "private message" notification on this forum is not the "stone axe between the eyes" that my befuddled mind needs.

what i get is a change in the fraction that appears right before "Messages" on the "welcome" line.

the numerator indicates how many unread(?) messages i have waiting.  the denominator indicates how many messages i have altogether (up to 50).

nothing changes color.  so, if i dont remember what i have done in  the que, i cant tell if i have a new message, or forgot to ackowledge that i have read all the messages.

as of this moment, i checked for new messages and found a new one (nearly missed it).   i read it and went on to read new posts in the forum.  but, i must have forgot to do something in the PM because the fraction should have indicted 0 (zero) in the numerator telling me that i have read all my PM.

if all y'all 'puter savvy people think this is funny, you should see me trying to deal with my GPS.

Ahhhhhh, yes.  Now I think I've got it.

When I sign on, next to "Recent Messages", it shows "0/2".  I've deleted everything, twice, I think, but the "0/2" is still there.

I have no problem sending or recieving anything (as far as I know) but I've just learned to ignore the "0/2".  Just like a new noise in the car....just turn up the volume on the radio: no more new noise!

The spell checker has been broken for some time.  When you are ready to spell check click preview then when the screen repaints click the spell check right away and it will work.  So far I have been unable to fix this and have requested the web guys look at it.
