| Had a chat across the fence with my neighbor today....he told me that he was out walking his dogs the other day , he was crossing the street ( legally ) at a traffic light controlled pedestrian intersection , and almost got mowed down by an inattentive cager on her cellphone.... He screamed at her.....of course , she paid no heed... The " Ten O'clock News " featured a segment last night that stated that cager / pedestrian collisions ramp up three fold in Seattle when we switch from daylight savings time to standard time..... Maybe the local cagers need a latte before going public in their cages........ Or maybe they need to get their heads out of their @#ses , and pay attention to the road , and honor the rights of the others sharing the public byways with them.....standard time or daylight savings time..... Will THE GOV'T address this lack of cager awareness of others sharing the public roadways ......I doubt it........$$$ BTW , my neighbor has never complained about my Screamin' Eagles.....he would if there was something to bellyache about..... It's all about respect for the Common Good..... Motormule

The government is hesitant to do anything to big blocks of voters. "like cagers" We as motorcyclist need to let them know we are a large block of voters also. (SPECIAL INTERSET GROUP) This is the one reason to join one of the motorcycle organizations, like AMA or Abate. I sometimes think that every motorcycle web site should have a list of the different Motorcycle organization (without endorsement of any particular one mind you) and their web site so if someone is inclined to join, they could. Let’s make it as easy as possible for our voice to be heard.

I have ordered a "modulation headlight" for my Boulevard. I had on on a Shadow I owned.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this product. It seems to me it really help your visability.
What do you think?

Well caseysanta, I believe you will get two different opinions. As far as I can tell there is no data available so it will all be just opinions and anecdotal evidence. I am not sure which way to go. I can see how some people can misinterpret the meaning and do something stupid. OTOH I will agree that they make you more visible.
I have never had one so I have no anecdotes to tell.

| As far as i know, modulating headlights are legal in all states. I could be wrong. I notice the bikes with the modulating headlights....coming at me from quite far away...but again...headlights in ANY form really don't do a damned thing (IMO) to prevent the cager right next to you from turning his Buick into you. (And this is the guy that can kill you first.) You can gather that I am NOT a "headlight on" fan. Modulating headlights....can certainly do no harm. If you want it...get it.

I agree with Torqueman - there are two takes on this issue but I will never downplay the importance of being seen - go for it.
I also agree with Motormule - cagers need to be reminded that they are driving and need to respect all. Governments must not rely on the consequences of drivers actions as the reason for drivers driving safely.
Also, we need to speak as one voice and stand up for our rights. If we don't we will be pushed into conformity and none of us wants that.
{In thinking about the last sentence, makes me think that is why we don't speak with one voice. Conformity for the sake of non conformity is well,,,,, hard to accomplish.}

The only drawback from wearing or installing high viz items is that it may lull you into a false sense of security thinking that other drivers can now see you better and won't do something stupid.
In the end, that gob of gray matter between your ears is what will save your hide.
Now, let me get this right - is it one down, four up?
