What motorcycle gadget do you wish existed? I'm looking for everything from the feasible to pure science-fiction. My science-fiction wish would be a way to instantly create a wave or bubble of compressed air that would serve as a cushion against an impending crash.

Mine would be a button on my handlebars that immediately vaporized stupid cagers who pull out in front of me. Then again, I would vaporize anyone with the IQ of a house plant.

Wow, Scootergal. I sympathize, but I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

I have this dream occasionally in which my headlight turns any surface it contacts into perfectly smooth asphalt. I'm able to ride across lakes and through mountains. The change lasts just long enough for the rear tire to make it. If I'm lucky, I'll have this dream the last night of my life and just ride forever.

I would like a goose that lays golden eggs so I can afford to spend all my time riding and having fun.

Well ScooterGal, I had no idea that a higher Education made one so
vicious. Would you wish for another button on the other handlebar that would bring them back so they could annoy others after you passed.
If not thats just one less we need to worry about.
On my trip to Oklahoma I had a close call in Northern Arkansas. A truck
( big one) pulled in front of me and I had to lock um up and swerve.
I stopped about 100 yards down the road to get my heart rate back to normal. If I had had one of those magic button I surly would have used it. Zap--Zap--Zap. The tape, "Ride Like A Pro" came to mind after I calmed down. Sure glad I had watched it and practiced the panic stops.

Good one ScooterGal, if you ever come across one of those buttons let me know. I want one.

AAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLrighty then - what's the point of this topic?

Something I've always dreamed about wanting on either my bike or the car is an Anti-Excessive Booming Bass EMP Device.  I envision being able to press a button while parked at a stoplight and instantly frying the coils of the half dozen or so 16" woofers blaring in the blacked out Honda Civic next to me.  No affect whatsoever - though - on stock speaker systems.  A concept akin to the "Neutron Bomb" developed years ago that was supposed to kill only people while leaving buildings intact.

Keep in mind that for every so-called advance in technology that we make that we seem to add another layer to the stuff that we cant seem to do without. So it is not without risk that I offer:

I would like to try something on the order of a race car drivers cool suit. Ideally, it would be part of my stich. It would plug into a jug of ice water and be circulated by a very small pump like one might find running a garden water feature. The cooling effect should last at least as long as a tank of fuel. It doesnt have to be thermostaticly controled. A simple rider accessable on/off switch ought to be enough. Getting the piping right to properly cool a body might mimic the layout of the race car driver's setup with slight mods as befitting a bike. Two designs might be available; one for naked bikes and one for bikes with wind protection.

And wouldnt it be nice if there was a plug for the system to access the bikes coolant to get heat in the winter? Thus, I might be able to get rid of the electric clothes.

Safety issues might be that soaking a rider in ice water due to a fall/collision might not always be the best thing. Nor would being drenched in glycol be any better.

And secondly: Because I dont seem to be able to attract one of those exceptionally hawt biker babes who wants to go riding all the time and doesn't mind being hot, cold, wet, encrusted with road grime&road bugs, likes camping and speaks at least three languages and has read most of the books in the university library, can play harmonica, all while living well below the destitution line; I will take the equivalent robot for company. I have yet to meet the dog that I am willing to tour with while on the bike.

(Edit: As long as I am wishing for a good co-rider, she ought to be able to pilot and monkey as needed with an antique front-out hack and a modern back-out hack and all the various off road hacks.)

nobody rides half as well as they know how.
