Man OHG - you gotta come down out of the mountains once in a while!

Ironhead brings up a good point. Why are we forced to accept the riding position the manufacturers give us? Why can't they offer sport, cruiser or regular packages that would include different size handlebars, adjustable footpegs or floorboards, interchangeable shift and brake levers of different lengths, etc.

That way, you can order a bike with the sport package, cruiser package, touring package depending on what position you want to ride in, not what they want you to ride in.

Now, let me get this right - is it one down, four up?

Rootie,
Ozark may be right...But maybe someone is missing an opportunity for aftermarket accessories like you mentioned. I was thinking about making a set of mid mounted foot pegs for my Vulcan.
On my KZ I could put my feet on the highway pegs that were in my crash bars OOPs I mean engine guards, or I could put them back on the passenger pegs, I could even stand up on the foot pegs and stretch out my back and give my butt a rest, or soak up a big bump in the road. I've been in quite a few camp grounds and national forests where you needed to stand on the pegs and ride moto cross style to get to the campsites.
Have you ever tried to stand on the floorboards on a cruiser. The tops of your legs hit the handlebars before you get vertical.
And with the passenger seat so much higher than the driver seat, the passenger floorboards are too high to get your feet on them.
I'm only 5'7" so I couldn't reach the Highway pegs on my Vulcan so I took them off. I didn't see much need for them anyway since my feet are already so far forward.
Anyway from a practical stand point, the UJM just makes sense. But apparently people are buying style and not practicality these days.

my shifter is on the RIGHT side

OWG...you've always had such a way with words....split my coffee on this one.

Gotta meet you sometime...burger and a beer at the nearest biker (read: Harley) bar, of course.  I'll buy!

Jimbo, I'm holding you to that.  But open up man there is a wide world of all kinds of motorcycles out there.  I love da H-D but there is some kool stuff with other labels.  I'd love to find a good used Yam Raider.  Those things are flying out the door I've heard.
