1990Goldwing GL-1500

Parked bike after ride two weeks ago, since then I've replaced all tail/turn lights with new ones and all work.

Went to start bike and nothing happens. THere is no neutral/oil lights, no head light or anything else. I can hear relays clicking. I have checked battery and connections, fuses and contacts for power, I have checked relays and connections and have power accross the board. I have one relay I'm not sure of continuity because I have no guidelines...Any advice would be recieved gratefully.

Welcome to the forum Skimax. When you say you checked the relays was that in both the expected open and the expected closed condition? Normally when nothing works I suspect the key switch or the main fuse but that does not sound like what you are describing. Maybe on of the guys who are better qualified than me has some ideas.

I'm a firm believer in always starting with the easy stuff before we get too complicated.  I had a '93 model 1500.  I'm sure you have checked battery and that the battery is getting juice?  After that since you have looked at fuses I'd start next with the contacts on the kill switch and also look at the kickstand in gear kill switch.  Let us know how it goes and if you find the problem.

To clarify: "and all work...no head light or anything else" -Which one is it? Do they turns/tail work or does nothing work?

Regardless, if you've got relays clicking, you've got power from the battery(at least to start with) and I wouldn't bother with the neutral/sidestand/kill/etc...none of them would kill the indicators or head light. Your problem is long before them. A poor connection may show up as good on a continuity test, but fail under load. At this point there are a hundred suspects...main power relays, fuses, ign switch, grounds, harness connectors, etc.

The easiest way to go about troubleshooting this is to get a wiring diagram and start tracking power from the battery out, and see where it disappears.

Clymer manuals are cheap enough.

Minivans. Why is it ALWAYS the minivans?

If you have an older Yuasa battery it could be defective.  Yuasa had problems in the past with the welding machines that connected the internal over the cell conductors.  Seems they would break in a hair like pattern.  When that happens you read voltage at the battery, but the hairline crack prevents full current from flowing when you try to start the bike.

It's fairly easy to detect.  Put a voltmeter across the battery.  If you see the correct voltage (about 12.8 V.) then turn on the ignition key while watching the meter.  If the battery is the problem the voltage will drop significantly.  The hairline crack internally is acting as a resistor and dropping the voltage internally, leaving a path of high resistance to any current you need to power the bike.

Hope it's something that simple.

I wrote this half asleep....To the power.

I have brake lights and turn signals and LCD display, normally when I turn the ign. switch on the headlights comes on and the saddle bag and trunk lights. Now nothing..When I stated I have doubts about one relay, it's because I have no values to compare it with......

I agree with rnielsen - the battery needs to be checked with and without a load.  I've had several battery failures on my bike in which the voltage was fine with the ignition off, but then dropped about in half with the ignition switch turned on (bike not running).
