THERE ARE THREE new versions of the Multistrada: Multistrada 1260, Multistrada 1260 S and Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak, each powered by a new 1262cc Ducati Testastretta DVT engine. The Desmodromic Variable Timing (DVT) was designed to extend power even in low gear, and a new chassis, new front end and cutting-edge electronics improve control. All models feature Vehicle Hold Control (VHC), riding and power mode control, Ducati Safety Pack (cornering ABS Bosch + DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), cruise control, handsfree, backlit handlebar controls, Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) ready, automatic indicator switch off, and are anti-theft ready. There’s new chassis geometry and a re-engineered front end was modifi ed for improved turning and maximum stability with fully loaded side panniers and a passenger onboard. The Multistrada 1260 S adds to the basic platform Ducati Quick Shift and a new color TFT instrument panel, to aid in switching ride modes and Ducati Skyhook Suspension on the fly. The Pikes Peak option adds off-pavement versatility with forged wheels, carbon steel components, a longer and fully adjustable swing arm and Öhlins shock absorber. The Pikes Peak is also equipped with Öhlins top-shelf suspension, a Ducati Performance by Termignoni exhaust system, carbon fi ber windscreen and additional Plexiglas windscreen. A carbon fi ber front mudguard, carbon fi ber air intake covers, and carbon hands-free cover help reduce weight. The Panigale V4 replaces the iconic 1299 at the top of the Ducati supersport range, with the goal of enhancing performance and ridability.
The Panigale V4 has been developed in close collaboration with Ducati Corse, drawing directly on knowhow and technology from the racing world to provide what Ducati says is “a road bike that is the closest thing possible to its MotoGP counterpart.” The new Desmosedici Stradale engine has been designed based on the experience gained in MotoGP. The typical approach used in competitions is found in the extraordinary power and torque values. The 90-degree V4, features a displacement of 1,103cc, a counter-rotating crankshaft and four valves per cylinder. With desmodromic distribution, it reaches 214 hp of maximum power at 13,000 rpm and 90 lb.-ft. of maximum torque at 10,000 rpm. The new Panigale V4 Speciale is produced in a limited and numbered series of 1,500 motorcycles.
